Frequently Asked Questions – Yoga Amigas

Question 1

I've never practiced yoga before. Is that a problem?

Accepted Answer

Of course not! The program is designed for women of all abilities, from complete beginner to advanced. Even if you've done yoga before many of the elements we will practice will be new to you.

Question 2

What if I come by myself?

Accepted Answer

The majority of our Amigas come by themselves. Although you may come alone, you will leave the retreat with new friends. We have many women who meet on retreat and come back together.

Question 3

Is there an age limit or minimum?

Accepted Answer

There's no age limit. Our Amigas are usually somewhere between their late twenties and their sixties — the mix changes every retreat, and it stops mattering by day two.

Question 4

I have specific food requirements, is that a problem?

Accepted Answer

We promote a healthy vegetarian diet in line with yoga principles, and everyone is free to eat as they choose. In Fuerteventura the welcome dinner on the first night is included. In Marrakech breakfast in the riad is included every day, plus a welcome dinner. All other meals are up to you, and we know every good local spot.

Question 5

What should I bring with me?

Accepted Answer

Firstly an open heart and a smile on your face:)

Fuerteventura:
In your luggage we suggest comfortable and loose clothing, sunglasses and sun cream, shoes suitable for our volcano walk, a towel to take to the beach and a sun hat. In the winter months it can get a little chilly some evenings so also bring a light jacket or warm jumper/hoody.
All these items can be bought locally in the great selection of shops in Corralejo town.

Morocco:
Marrakech has a semi-desert climate, which means that during the months we visit, there are significant temperature differences between day and night. Be prepared for cool, cozy nights and mornings by the fireplace, and around 20°C during the day with plenty of sunshine: sometimes even warm enough to sunbathe on the rooftop!
Detailed information on what to bring and how to prepare will be provided in emails to all participants.

Question 6

Do I have to participate in everything on the schedule?

Accepted Answer

You do not need to participate in everything; you can pace yourself to find the perfect amount of activity for you. We support you in doing as much or as little as is right for you, depending on how you are feeling. The initial schedule will give you a sense of the flow of each day. It's always subject to change, depending upon the needs of the group, weather, etc.

Question 7

Do I need to sign anything?

Accepted Answer

Once you register for a retreat, we'll send you our Basic Waiver Form. This documents must be completed and returned to us prior to your retreat date. Guests who fail to do so may be subject to an automatic cancellation, and the below cancellation policy will apply.

Question 8

What's your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

If you cancel your reservation, please remember that your deposit, as well as any part of the payment made for the trip, is non-refundable and non-transferable to another retreat. It is your responsibility to read and understand our cancellation policy. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies. No refunds or credits will be given for failure to attend or failure to complete the retreat, or for arriving late or leaving early.

Question 9

What if my retreat gets cancelled?

Accepted Answer

We reserve the right to cancel retreats with inadequate participant interest, in which case all money paid to Yoga Amigas will be refunded. Notification of cancellation will occur at least 20 days prior to your retreat start date. Yoga Amigas cannot be held responsible for any personal expenses, such as airline tickets due to changes in itineraries or retreat cancellations.

Question 10

Do I need insurance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Medical and accident cover is mandatory. We also recommend cover for trip cancellation, and for flight delays, cancellations, lost luggage and similar.
